DOMESTIC ABUSE ADVOCATE

Flexible hours, days and occasional weekends for an advocate to provide support and referral services for victims of domestic violence. Serve as a liaison to the District Attorney’s staff.

Qualifications: Knowledge of domestic violence issues preferred and familiarity with the legal system helpful. Excellent verbal, written and listening skills required. Computer skills a plus. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, related field or equivalent experience. Valid Wisconsin drivers license and own transportation required. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

RE-ENTRY ADVOCATE

This position works with the victims of domestic violence offenders re-entering the community from and/or incarcerated in the Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility and the Milwaukee County Jail/House of Corrections. The advocate will work individually and in groups with clients to fully inform, educate, and prepare them for offenders re-entry. Additionally, this position will work closely with a re-entry team dedicated to promoting and enhancing victim safety. Facilitate support and education groups.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2 years experience or 3-5 years related experience. Proficiency in a second language besides English a plus.

COMMUNITY PROSECUTION ADVOCATE

Part-time

(Two positions available)

Sojourner Family Peace Center is seeking an experienced professional to work as a Community Prosecution Advocate. This position will provide assistance to domestic violence victims from diverse backgrounds to help them explore their options, develop a safety plan and access needed community resources. This position will also provide crisis intervention, advocacy and ongoing support, and will work with a team of law enforcement, prosecutors, probation agents and advocates to develop and implement protocols for proactively responding to family violence at a neighborhood level.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, criminal justice, communication, human resources or relevant field. Three to five years professional experience in advocacy, case management, human resources, or related field. Experience with the issue of family violence preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
